'IMMINENT' SAUDI ATTACK WARNING
"Terrorists may be in the final stages of planning an attack in Saudi Arabia, the UK Foreign Office has warned.. ..It had already warned it believed terrorists were 'determined to carry out further attacks in Saudi Arabia.' ..The new warning comes after a British Airways flight to Riyadh, which had been due to fly on [Feb. 16], was cancelled amid security fears.." "A UN official sided with the United States in its dispute with Iraq's powerful Shiite clergy over elections, saying [Feb 13] it would be hard to organize a vote before the June 30 deadline to hand power to the Iraqis. "Al-Qaeda is plotting to disrupt a power transfer in Iraq by pitting Sunnis against Shiites and plunging the country into civil war, senior US officials warned [Feb 9]. Brig. Gen. Mark Kimmitt, deputy operations chief for the US-led coalition in Iraq, said a memo had been seized detailing plans to target Shiite leaders to spark a violent backlash ahead of a June 30 deadline for self-rule.. ..Kimmitt said a 17-page memo detailing plans to attack Shiite leaders was "credible", confirming a New York Times report that Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi, a Jordanian suspected of ties to Al-Qaeda, is believed to be the author.." "The head of the US Central Command, Gen. John Abizaid, escaped injury [Feb 12] after guerrillas hit an Iraqi civil defense force outpost that he was visiting with rocket-propelled grenades.. ..A defense official in Washington, speaking on condition of anonymity, said it was likely that the insurgents had been tipped off to the presence of the senior general. However, US officials, briefing reporters at military headquarters in Baghdad, said they were not prepared to make such a link. The decision was made by the 146 member states of the WTO at a meeting in Geneva on [Feb 11]. KUWAITI MINISTER DENIES ABUSE OF POWER IN IRAQ FUEL DEAL
"Kuwait's Energy Minister Sheikh Ahmad Fahd Al-Sabah [Feb 13] denied public funds had been squandered or there had been any abuse of power in a deal to supply fuel to the US military in Iraq through oil services giant Halliburton.. ..On [Feb 9], he asked the public prosecutor to look at allegations of misconduct on the part of executives at the state-owned Kuwait Petroleum Corp. OMAN TO ELIMINATE RUBELLA BY NEXT YEAR
"Oman has been successful in controlling Congenital Rubella Syndrome (CRS) disease and on track to achieve, with support from the World Health Organization (WHO), its target of eliminating CRS by 2005 from the country.. 
..the country sprung into action when a CRS outbreak in 1993 reported 1,253 rubella cases. The MOH, along with WHO assistance adopted adequate measures for vaccination and surveillance activities to contain the disease and its adverse effects on the young population. The global burden of CRS remains high, with more than 100,000 infants born around the world with CRS each year.." Complete report..

"Former Chechen President Zelimkhan Yanderbiyev has been killed in an explosion in Qatar. The satellite TV station al-Jazeera said Mr. Yanderbiyev's car was hit by a blast in the capital, Doha.  Two of his bodyguards were reportedly killed and his teenage son, Daud, is said to have been seriously injured in the blast. "British Airways has canceled [Feb 16] flight from London to Riyadh, for 'security reasons.' The airline has also canceled [Feb 15] flight 223 from Heathrow to Washington's Dulles Airport. The airline said that it had done so on 'government advice'. It said that the 184 people booked on the Washington flight and the 149 to Riyadh would be re-booked on other flights or given a refund. "OPEC surprised oil markets [Feb 10] by announcing it would be producing 2.5 million fewer barrels per day (bpd) of crude as of April 1 in an effort to keep prices from falling when demand drops in spring in the northern hemisphere.. ..Oil prices immediately shot up.
