BAHRAIN OPPOSITION GROUP GEARS UP FOR ELECTIONS
"Bahrain's leading opposition group Al Wefaq Society is set to elect its new board this week, in a move that may influence the kingdom's newly-born democratic process.. ..The group, established in November 2001 by Shiite clerics and former exiled dissidents, is considered the biggest political entity in the country with around 2,000 active members. OMAN'S GDP MAY POST MINUS GROWTH IN YEAR 2004
"Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki, minister of national economy and deputy chairman of the Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council, [Jan 4] said the gross domestic product (GDP) would post minus growth during the year 2004.
